Too bad from the sounds of it, it isnt because he is "hard" tactically but because he is an overpowered idiot, but how is that different from any PvE experience in Guild Wars? Enemies in Guild Wars have always felt like a buncha "c spacers" that periodically jam on 1-2-3.

I've never been through the whole of any of the area's due to not having chars for the cookie cutter build, so i'll apologise in advance if this build wont work.
the idea revolves around using one of GW:EN's new skills, Aneurysm.
2x W/Me Tanks with 12 dom and blackout
1x mesmer with Aneurysm and ancestor's visage + sympathetic visage.
1x ranger with famine and spirit shackles
Basically the 2 W/Me keep up blackout for 10 of 12 seconds, while having the visage on them. Spirit shackles goes on mallyx. then he stips the spirit shackles and you hit aneurysm. I assume Mallyx has high energy. this means he takes loads of damage.
The only other option i can think of would be 2 mesmers. One with the formentioned build minus the visages, and one being an e denial mes. Mallyx takes damage from both losing and regaining the same energy.

If a game can only be beaten with exploits, it's extremely poor and unprofessional game design.

I strongly suggest you read the thread first to find out why that doesn't work.
(Hint: Blackout doesn't work, Mallyx has Enchantment strips for the Visages, and unlimited Energy)

blackout doesn't work on mallyx, visages are enchants therefore will be removed and you'll have 2 disabled skills, hexes heal him.

ah okay, the idea bascally revolved around getting the blackout.
What about just the edenial then aneurysm? Hell, maybe you could put that on a necro as teams bring them.

Contrary to Wiki Blackout does not work, diversion does not work and any hex will cause him to instant heal via consume torment
Also the recharge time on some skills seems to be decreased from the stated amounts as during this mornings attempt it spammed skills way faster than it should have. it spammed summon shadows every 5 seconds, as opposed to 20.
There are a few things left to try tho.

Mallyx counts as a boss, so he has half-cast and half-recharge (and I believe half-Hex/Conditions). Why Summon Shadows had a 1/4 recharge I do not know.

For the record, he does not de-aggro... He chased some of us all the way up to the door of the City of Torc'qua if you know where that is (roughly two compass radiuses from where he started). And everytime he sees people running away from him he uses Summoning Shadows and kills one or two before they run away.

We were in Hard Mode (for different reasons) and so his summoning Shadows recharged in 10 seconds instead of 20. However, bosses do not get 1/2 recharge for being bosses, just half cast time.
Also, Shan is pretty sure he diverted his Consume Torment (we're talking 30+ seconds of added recharge) and he still used it a few seconds later. Not cool. I can divert Varesh's skills in Ruins of Morah and Blackout her skills too... Why not him? This inconsistency stinks.

Wiki says that Banish Enchantment is a spell. This means that unless the wiki is incorrect, a shadow form tank would work wouldnt it? Echo shadow form and QZ+Deadly paradox? I think that would keep it up perma. The necro could drop 2 skills and bring Serpents quickness and QZ then?

It's still hilarious that the all-evil god Abaddon can easily be defeated with a hero/hench-team and 1 grown-up monkey hiding in his citadel instakills even the most experienced GW-parties.

Well we only fought abaddon in his prison, were he out of his chains, he could prolly insta kill us all. I wonder why, when we were killing its god, mallyx didnt come out? i dont think he was tied up in chains now was he?

Well, we ARE talking about DoA groups. Maybe it could be rebalanced if someone good decides to try and fail.

At the start of each battle good ol' Aba breaks out of his chains. After you kill the spawned enemies he's bound again.
ah wait, Aba is able to instakill you when you start dancing during the cutscene ^^

That wouldn't be killing him unglitched. If people find yet another method of glitching him to kill him the problem will NEVER be sorted out. The'yll simply fix yet another glitch and people will have to go back to square 1. Maybe they should just face the truth... they made Mallyx way more overpowered than every single enemy boss in the game COMBINED, he needs nerfing to a standard that can actually be completed without some insane cookie cutter involving things that he can't remove instantly.
